Logan County Detention Center Overview
The Logan County Detention Center is the primary public jail facility for Logan County. The official county page lists the jail address, phone, fax, current-inmates link, public-information disclaimer, and detention-center contact. It also states that current inmate information includes bond, charge, and court dates. The separate detention-center web/app page repeats the facility address, telephone, fax, and non-emergency dispatch number.
The facility type is county jail and detention center. The Kentucky DOC weekly jail reports show two reporting lines tied to Logan custody: the secure Logan jail line and the Logan JRC non-secure line. The research treats those as one Logan County Detention Center operation for page purposes because no separate public JRC facility address was found. That means the facility page should cover both secure jail custody and the JRC/non-secure population line without inventing a second facility.
The official county mission language describes more than a holding site. It names GED, New Directions, Moral Reconation Therapy, National Career Readiness Certificate, AA, and related programs. Those details support a more accurate facility description: the jail handles custody, classification, court-connected release processes, and program access within the limits of jail security.
Logan County Detention Center Population
Kentucky DOC weekly jail reports provide the strongest population data for the facility. On June 4, 2026, the secure Logan jail line listed 82 beds, 130 people, and 159% of capacity. It also showed 48 people over capacity. The same report listed Logan JRC with 80 beds, 33 people, and 41% of capacity. The secure line is where the crowding pressure appears in the sourced numbers.
| Line | Beds | Population | Capacity | Source |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Secure Logan jail | 82 | 130 | 159% | Kentucky DOC weekly jail report, June 4, 2026 |
| Logan JRC | 80 | 33 | 41% | Kentucky DOC weekly jail report, June 4, 2026 |
| Secure male | N/A | 94 | N/A | Kentucky DOC weekly jail report, June 4, 2026 |
| Secure female | N/A | 36 | N/A | Kentucky DOC weekly jail report, June 4, 2026 |
Earlier snapshots showed the secure jail over capacity in late 2022, late 2023, late 2024, late 2025, and June 2026. The Logan JRC line had unused capacity in each captured snapshot. That difference matters when reading crowding references or population stories about the jail.
Lookup Logan County Detention Center Inmates
Use the county's Current Inmates link for people currently held at the Logan County Detention Center. The roster uses JailTracker/Public Safety Cloud and may require a modern browser because it is a WebAssembly app. The county says jail staff will no longer be able to give inmate information over the phone, so the online roster is the expected public lookup channel for current custody.
- Open the official Logan County Detention Center page.
- Select Current Inmates to load the JailTracker/Public Safety Cloud roster.
- Use the visible roster controls to find the person in current custody.
- Review bond, charge, and court-date information as jail custody data.
- If the person is missing, check VINE for custody notification or KOOL for state/DOC status.
For sentenced state custody, use the Kentucky Online Offender Lookup instead of relying only on the county roster. For federal sentenced custody, use the BOP inmate locator. For immigration detention, use ICE ODLS.
Logan County Detention Center Contact
The jail and sheriff addresses should not be merged. The detention center is on West Third Street. The sheriff's office is on North Owen Street and handles the documented sheriff open-records route. Visit Logan County Detention Center
On-site visitation is by appointment only for secure-side and Class D visits, with no walk-ins. Call 270-726-3696 ext. 1 at least two days ahead. Visitors must be on the inmate list, must show valid state or government photo ID, and cannot use expired or temporary ID. Convicted felons may not visit any inmate. One person may visit, and children under 18 may accompany an approved adult when supervised unless county rules prohibit that visit type.

Video visits are 20 minutes. The county states on-site video visitation is available at no cost, while remote minutes must be purchased or handled through CPC.
Logan County Jail Mail and Money
Logan County publishes separate inmate-service pages for mail, commissary, phone, property, religion, VINE, bonds, and visitation. Regular incoming inmate mail must be postcards. Written letters are returned, while legal mail remains allowed. Non-permitted property must be picked up by inmate-approved family or friends within 30 days from intake or within 30 days after release, or it may be disposed of.
| Service | Provider or Rule | Contact / Detail |
|---|---|---|
| Commissary | Kellwell / VendEngine / CorrectPay | Commissary normally runs Friday; CorrectPay handles deposits. |
| Vendor phone | Kellwell / VendEngine | 1-855-836-3364 for deposit questions listed by county. |
| Phone and video | CPC / InmateSales | 877-998-5678 for CPC phone account issues. |
| Postcard rule | Legal mail remains allowed. |
The Logan County commissary page identifies the deposit and commissary vendors.
Verify current lobby, deposit, and vendor rules before sending money because jail service pages and vendor policies can change.
Bond at Logan County Detention Center
Bond and release questions connect jail custody to court action. Logan County says some offenses have a pre-set bond. Other offenses require a judge to set bond after Pretrial Services meets with the person within 24 hours of booking. Bond listed on a roster does not always mean release is available, because another hold or detainer may apply.
| Bond Type | Meaning at Logan County |
|---|---|
| Partially secured | Money amount plus a judge-set percentage due before release. |
| ROR | Release on own recognizance after signing a promise to appear. |
| Surety | A judge-approved signer accepts the monetary risk. |
| Unsecured | Money amount assigned, but no cash required at release. |
Bonds are paid at the courthouse during regular weekday hours. Cash and surety bonds may be paid at the jail when the courthouse is closed. The county requires cash only, exact change, and a $50 booking fee for all persons bonding out.
Programs at Logan County Jail
The official detention-center mission statement names GED, New Directions, Moral Reconation Therapy, National Career Readiness Certificate, AA, and related programming. Religious practice is allowed within institutional order and security limits. The county religion page says inmates may participate in religious services and receive religious counseling, and it names Bible studies conducted by Bro. Mike Humble and colleagues during the week, including Sundays.
Population pressure is also part of the facility context. Official Kentucky DOC weekly reports show secure Logan jail overcrowding in multiple captured snapshots, and a 2024 local news report described new programs aimed at recidivism and quality of life after jail. Use official county program names first, and treat news stories as supporting context rather than facility rules.
Note: Confirm custody, visitation approval, and service rules before traveling or sending funds because jail rules can change without notice.
Logan County Detention Records
The jail roster is for current custody. Written records requests are used when a copy is needed or when a record is not online. The sheriff open-records page requires a signed written request to the Official Custodian of Records. It should include printed name, specific description, address, and phone number. Submission options are mail, email, fax, or hand delivery.
Use precise wording. For a booking record, include the person's name, known booking or arrest date, and the specific record requested. For a booking photograph, say booking photograph or official inmate photograph. If a court case record is needed, the Kentucky Court of Justice says the request starts with the clerk of the court that heard the case, not with the jail.
